For the last half-century in numerous Japanese, Okinawa and Chinese hand-to-hand fighting Schools the emphasis, denoting the prior training methods, was shifted. Mostly from strict applied directedness they moved to the ideas of harmonious human development, athletic-improving objectives and mainly became orientated on sports elements. These changes definitely took a great deal of popularization of changed “martial arts” in the world. But there is no doubt that, having found something new on this way, the initial essence was lost. One of these changes means that the true karate just was not passed to the masses and remains the lot for the elite.
No matter how astonishing and dolefully it is, but today lots of the Masters, who teach “martial arts”, are not aware of a real appliance of the techniques they train. Many of them are not able to demonstrate the techniques of the basic kata of their School, where they have high grades, in their real form against real attack; the majority of these teachers do not have any idea about inner methods of strengthening the techniques of the style they train. Having a good look at training methods and their realization from the modern pedagogical science point of view, we can see the following situation in the most karate schools: the people train one thing (kihon and kata) and fight (kumite) with another. This situation may be observed in non-contact and full-contact fights. Moreover, lots of sportsmen are divided into those who perform kata only and those who perform “kumite» only. It means that lots of modern karate trainers acknowledge that main techniques base in not intended for appliance in a real fight! Further - more: at the seminars of some full-contact karate champions they plainly affirm that those who come out in fights are not to strengthen their body, even press-up is forbidden, as because of it they are losing the speed, necessary for making the points in tournaments. And they do not need the strike’s force for that. Those who perform «kata» only, in their opinion, do not need the speed, that’s why they can train physical exercises to make the movements look powerful. It goes without saying, all these statements can not have any connection to hand-to-hand fighting, which karate originally is. And of course, not all karate schools go this way, completely refusing to have anything to do with applied directedness. It’s very important to understand that in sport-directed karate the first place takes the psychological aspect, which annihilates the idea of hard-edged fight, where there is no judge, quite possible to be held, weapon usage and unexpected approaching of the second opponent. It is worth to state that the rules of competitive fights do make equal the chances of karate-jutsu master with a sportsman. Moreover, even give the last one considerable advantage, making the master unable to use the main arsenal of his techniques. As a result of this misunderstanding, karate is being made vapid. The main sport idea is to limit the arsenal and exclude the most dangerous, and consequently, effective elements to secure the sportsman and pay his attention on the methods with a help of which he can win in accordance with established rules. From modern science point of view, a man can do in the best way what he used to do. In this case - what has been trained and can be done automatically, without any reflection. To train one thing and use another is unwise as, formed by a long lasting practice; dynamic stereotype can bring more harm then good. Karate techniques do work and can be used in the form, which has been maintained and is still practiced. But without breaking the limits of the common style, lots of masters deliberately limit their own abilities. It is known that lots of karate masters, who grounded their own schools, have attended different styles teachers and trained under their lead, borrowing some practical points for their own styles, probably stylizing them up to the main movements of the school. Some of them proceed to do so, training several styles and going out to Chinese Masters to deepen the comprehension and also use the opportunities to get the knowledge of related styles, participating, for instance, experience exchange Conferences with other Martial Art styles. That is why a group of specialists, united by the common practice of several karate styles, for some years has been reconstructing classical karate-jutsu, using modern science, of course. It is quite reasonable as initial karate-jutsu is unknown today, though its principals, in some degree, have been maintained in a number of styles existing today. Any School, which stopped its development, can not be “alive” in actively changing modern world, that’s why the classical arsenal of traditional karate was extended, what made easier the comprehension of a number of aspects. Particularly the initial karate, the basis of original karate, was investigated. It is known that it was Southern Schools of Chinese hand-to-hand fighting. On the contrary to the common trainings in a number of karate-do clubs and federations, karate-jutsu system use more complex approach, which includes the skills of classical karate techniques standing and on the ground appliance, vital points and strangulation methods, locks and throws, techniques against weapons and a number of assaulters. Modern karate-jutsu syllabus is intended for making a man able to master his skills, make real mastered but not used classical kata movements, strengthen the body with special practices and get the answers on the questions, arisen during the training (no matter if he has trained any karate style before). It allows him to use obtained skills in a real situation in accordance with situation changes, develop his reflexes, basing on the fundamental principals of physiology and psychology.
